Project – Learning Blender with the course of Sime Bugarija. This also includes modelling the Train and trying to archive a satisfying end result.
What I did – I am responsible for all aspects of the project, except for the usage of the greeble structures Sime Bugarija provides with his download (signs, a few pipes and the small shop in the background and two larger background assets). I also used his texture collection, but modelled the whole scene as well as the train, lighting and rendering and creating the final image.
Showcase
The whole project took me around 2 and a half days, since the modelling of the train proved to be a challenge here and there; but once I understood the workflow Sime was presenting, creating the final render was a breeze. Blender is an absolute beast!
Workflow Breakdown
Blockout, Setting Camera, Blockout, Lighting, Sweetening – that was my rough workflow. I absolutely adore Blender now since it feels like a great mix between 3DsMax (Modifiers are awesome) and Unreal Engine (easy render- and lighting setup, shader graph) and I felt very comfortable while working on the scene.
Since a few assets Sime used in his tutorial are paid ones, I scavenged the internet to find substitutes; like this different pathway texture or later on graffiti for the train.
I used Simes scanned assets as well as his small greeble assets in my scene, but tried to model the most things myself.
I always went back to my main scene while I was modelling the train, since the results of the render, even though basic, are just very satisfying and quick!
Final Image after I passed it through Blenders comp tools, After Effects and Photoshop.
