M1 Abrams Model – 3D and PBR Workflow

One of my very first models when I started with 3D, was a M1 Abrams Tank. I reworked the whole model in 2019 and also incorporated a new workflow – creating PBR materials via Substance Painter.

The first model on the left is from 2016 – I started out with Maya and did the rework in 3DsMax
I also added handpainted decals that I created inside Photoshop
I gave every subgroup a material ID – this made working inside Substance much easier
I never created materials inside Substance before, but tried it out and ended up with some unique looking mats for the paint, fabrics and details
